Retroreflector Shape - One of the Sources of Errors
Abstract
The effect of satellite retroreflector shape on the reflection pattern of laser pulses is considered. The shifts in pulse center of gravity for a spherical retroreflector form are examined for the cases of symmetric and asymmetric pulses. If a spherical retroreflector is used, necessary parameters for distance location can be determined. For retroreflectors with a complex shape, the shifts in the centers of gravity are completely irregular.
