Internal and external models of variable parameter filters
Abstract
Wave propagation through a random fluctuating medium is discussed, particularly underwater acoustic propagation. A partial derivative, complex coefficients equation describes the general internal model of a random filter with variable parameters. After discussing external medium properties internal representations are studied in correspondance with mediums WSS (Wide Sense Stationary), UD (Uncorrelated Diffusion), and WSSUD. Since an equivalent internal model is relatively simple, an optimal receiver could be developed from it.
