The faint object camera
Abstract
The faint object camera (FOC) is a high resolution photon counting camera with a format of 500 x 500 pixels. The FOC is intended for use with the earth-orbiting Space Telescope and is thought capable of utilizing the full optical performance of the telescope by penetrating to the faintest limiting magnitude and achieving high angular resolution. The construction, operation, characteristics, and applications of the camera are discussed.
