Testing embedded microprocessors - Space application requirements
Abstract
Testing and standardization of microprocessors for use as components, replacements and computational subsystems in space systems are discussed. Military standards applicable to the testing of microprocessors from the assembly line to on-orbit checkout are reviewed. Environmental and functional requirements for the microprocessors are considered; the formulation of worst-case functional and electrical testing, electrical coupling effects in microprocessors, and fault tolerant and redundant designs are also mentioned.
