Performance of ground station operations
Abstract
The near field technique was applied to the study of the performance of a ground station 4 -reflector Cassegrainian antenna feed to be used for space communication in the 11 to 14 GHz range. The subsystem, consisting of a corrugated horn and the four reflectors of the feed system, was installed in an anechoic chamber. Using field phase and amplitude profiles the radiation and illumination of the main reflector as well as its far field patterns were determined. This was achieved by automatic control and processing using a minicomputer.
