LDA signal processing and data analysis
Abstract
The form of electrical signals produced by the photodetector is described along with the requirements of signal processing systems. The principles of operation and relative merits of the more important methods of signal analysis are discussed. These include: frequency analysis; frequency-tracking demodulation; counting; filter banks; photon correlation spectroscopy; and optical frequency analysis. It is concluded that Doppler signals may vary in amplitude, frequency, and phase, and that the recommended form of signal analysis depends on the required flow properties and on the flow configuration.
