New piezoelectric materials for high frequency applications
Abstract
Pressure sintered (Li, Na)NbO3 with densities greater than 99 percent was developed with the aid of X-ray phase analysis, optical and electron microscopic investigations of the microstructure. Measurements on planar resonators (approximately equals 300 kHz) exhibit sound velocities 7000 to 7800/ms, relative permittivities 100 to 180, planar coupling coefficients 0.1 to 0.4 and mechanical quality factors up to 1200. Initial investigations in the vhf range indicate that volume resonators, for example, operated in the fundamental mode at 36 MHz are indeed feasible.
