One-dimensional steady gas flow with energy supply to a finite region
Abstract
A one-dimensional steady gas flow is examined to which energy is supplied by an intense parallel beam of electromagnetic radiation, normal to the flow. A continuous solution, whose first derivatives are also continuous, is obtained within the framework of the Navier-Stokes equations. Solutions obtained for Re = 1, M = Kn, and for Re and M tending to zero, at a fixed Kn are analyzed, along with solutions obtained for energy supply according to a prescribed law, for energy supply at a constant intensity, and for energy supply with a Gaussian distribution along the longitudinal coordinate.
