Pulsed turbulent flow in piping
Abstract
One-dimensional and two-dimensional mathematical models for turbulent oscillating flow of a compressible fluid in circular tubes were developed and compared with experimental results. Pressure and velocity figures, measured on the tube axis agree with the one-domensional model prediction showing that the flow coefficient, for modulating rates greater than 10, is a function of that rate and of the oscillating frequency, being itself modulated in function of the system resonant frequency. The two-dimensional model permits a more precise characterization of local flow. Comparison with experimental results verifies the hypothesis used in the model.
