Liquid motions in containers in zero gravity
Abstract
The major attractiveness of space processing of materials derives from the option to establish transport phenomena in a large quantity of liquid that is either weightless or acted on solely by a rotational acceleration field. Experiments that are scheduled to be executed in the fluid physics module onboard Spacelab 1 are proposed. The main objective of these experiments is to obtain qualitative information on flow phenomena of liquids in partially filled containers for Weber numbers about one.
