A digital split-band compandor for 64 kbit/s coding of speech with a 7 kHz bandwidth
Abstract
A bit saving technique for enabling good quality 7 kHz bandwidth speech signals to be coded for transmission in a 64 kbit/s channel for public broadcasting is described. The performance of an experimental compandor dividing the program spectrum into three bands is evaluated.
