Extended area test system in the 136-148 MHz band: An EMC assessment
Abstract
The compatibility of an extended area test system (EATS) in the 136 to 148 MHz band was analyzed. Regulations affecting EATS operation are discussed and histograms of characteristics of current band occupants are given. These histograms show that 79% of the current frequency assignments in the 136 to 148 MHz band use frequency modulation and are used for voice communications. Laboratory measurements of tests between the EATS transmitter and several FM receivers also are discussed. Several computer simulation models were used to assess the compatibility of the EATS with the present band occupants.
