Design optimization of the mounting configuration of skewed wheels for spacecraft attitude control application
Abstract
An analytical investigation performed to define the optimum skew mounting configuration of reaction wheels used for spacecraft attitude control is described. Criteria are chosen as the bases of the optimization process, one involving performance, the second, weight or momentum capacity. The results are a set of parametric equations from which the optimum wheel mounting configuration can be quickly established.
