Far infrared technology and applications. Conference held at Reston, Va., USA, 18 - 21 April 1977.
Abstract
Papers are presented on CW optically pumped far infrared lasers, relativistic electron beam sources of electromagnetic radiation, submillimeter wave mixers, advanced Schottky diode concepts, and infrared and millimeter wave techniques for the Cosmic Background Explorer Satellite. Also considered are submillimeter-wave diagnostics of tokamak plasmas, high sensitivity far infrared interferometry for plasma density measurements, and the development of far infrared systems for plasma studies at UCLA. Attention is also given to potential DoD system applications of far infrared and submillimeter waves, to the MIRADCOM far infrared imaging radar program, and to the use of submillimeter wave heterodyne radiometry for the detection of upper atmospheric constituents.
