Thermal stabilization of microcircuit substrates
Abstract
Three thermal feedback schemes are proposed for stabilizing temperature fields in microcircuit substrates: (1) control is implemented with respect to deviation of the ambient temperature from a nominal value, (2) control is implemented with respect to fluctuations of ambient temperature, and (3) a hybrid approach combining deviation and fluctuation control. The analysis of these schemes is performed on the basis of equations of heat balance and motion of the substrate as well as on the basis of the transfer function of the electrothermal converter. The hybrid approach is found to provide the greatest accuracy of thermal stabilization.
