Instabilities of a beam of relativistic electrons in an iris waveguide. II
Abstract
The paper investigates the effect of a nonresonant field on the oscillations of relativistic electron beams in delay-type guides at high beam-currents. Coupling coefficients and dynamic dispersion coefficients are calculated for continuous and thin-wall-tubular beam configurations in the case of a given longitudinal wave number. Boundary currents separating regions of fast (in the presence of a small nonresonant field) and slow (when the nonresonant field is larger than the resonant field) pumping of oscillations are estimated.
