A sensor for measuring density changes of some media under conditions of different gravitational effects
Abstract
The paper considers the design and principles of operation of a sensor for the measurement of density changes in soils and other friable materials. The sensor, whose principle of operation is based on changes of capacitance as a function of the density of the material measured, is used in a centrifuge facility where different gravitational conditions are simulated. As an example, density changes produced in an analog of lunar soil by centrifuging accelerations were studied
