Modeling, analysis, and design of switching converters
Abstract
A linear model was obtained for the inherently nonlinear power stage in which dc conversion is accomplished. A general unified approach to modelling and analysis of switching dc-to-dc converters was developed which was directly applicable to any dc-to-dc converter operating in either of two conduction modes, and which resulted in a final dynamic linear model. Part of this analysis technique, called state-space averaging, was applied to the continuous conduction mode of converter operation, while appropriate extension of the method to the discontinuous conduction mode was made. The culmination of the modelling and analysis was achieved in the development of canonical circuit models which represent any such converter regardless of its detailed configuration.
