Third-order optical processes in the picosecond range
Abstract
Coupled-mode lasers are discussed in terms of their design and operating characteristics, and with reference to their energy transmission parameters. Attention is given to a comparison between linear and nonlinear transmission modes. The characteristics of polydiacetylene lasers are reviewed on the basis of experiments conducted with Lyot filters, and varied-frequency pumping. Experimental data is compared with theoretical predictions of laser performance.
