Method for calculating an inductive flowrate meter for ducts of large cross section
Abstract
An approximate analytical solution is found to the problem of electric potential distribution in a planar MHD channel. The solution is used to develop a method for calculating the sensitivity of an inductive meter for measuring MHD flowrate. Calculations of a real meter show that consideration of the effects of polar end-fittings on electromagnetic processes in the flow leads to good agreement (within limits of 5%) between experimental and computational results for the magnetic Reynolds number range of 0-10.
