Suggestions for hybrid image processing

The advantages and disadvantages of optical versus digital image processing are unevenly distributed. Hence, a combined or hybrid approach may often provide the best performance per price. We want to make some suggestions for improving the flexibility of optical processing, by combining it with analog electronic methods (essentially TV). Specifically, we suggest methods for negative feedback, for space-variant filtering, for nonlinear operations, and performing iteration algorithms on images.
