Modular 4 GHz broadband amplifier components for communication satellites
Abstract
A modular solid state amplifier concept for communication satellites is presented which is suitable for the 4 GHz frequency range. Different combinations of four MIC modules offer a very flexible way to design low-noise high dynamic and gain controllable solid state amplifiers with 500 MHz bandwidths. The methods of designing the amplifier modules, their characteristics and technologies are described. The modules are primarily equipped with bipolar transistors. For the low-noise amplifier module GaAs FET's are preferably used. Achieved characteristics will be demonstrated on actually realized amplifiers.
