Dielectric guides on angle-shaped metallic substrate
Abstract
Dielectric guides on a conducting planar base, as provided by a metallic substrate, are called image lines and are used in a number of applications. The applications include a use as line antennas for signal transmission to vehicles guided with the aid of tracks and an employment in integrated circuits for EHF operation. The determination of the transmission characteristics of a line antenna is considered, taking into account unsymmetrical dielectric cross sections. An investigation is conducted of a case in which the metallic substrate is angle-shaped along the z axis. Attention is given to the employed mathematical method, the transmission characteristics, the field concentration in the dielectric, and the limiting radii.
