The infrared fluxes of Ba II stars.
Abstract
Photometry in the range 1.2 to 2.2 microns is given for 15 Ba II stars. Comparison with normal giants having similar luminosity shows that in general the Ba II stars are brighter at the 2.2-micron level and have a redder 1.2-2.2 micron region. In most cases, the infrared excess is found to be correlated with a blue-violet deficiency. These results strengthen the similarity between the Ba II stars and the blue-deficient stars in the globular clusters of Omega Centauri.
