Gas blowing for thermal protection of walls
Abstract
The subject of the book is the design of hybrid systems of wall cooling consisting of external convective cooling combined with film cooling, in which a stream of hot gas is removed from the wall by a film of coolant supplied through a slot, porous bands, or perforations on the wall. The regularities of heat transfer in the boundary layer in the presence of a thermal curtain are studied; calculation methods for hybrid wall cooling systems are worked out; and comparisons are made between the hybrid systems and the pure film cooling systems. A method for electrical analog modeling of perforation cooling of turbine blades is described, and a methodology for designing turbine blades with hybrid cooling is proposed.
