Quantization error minimizing method for computer-generated hologram
Abstract
A method is proposed for reducing the quantization error produced by a digital plotter in preparing a computer-generated hologram. The method is based on applying vector synthesis and decomposition to Lohmann's detour phase theory. Reconstructed images before and after reducing the quantization error are compared, and images for various numbers of quantization levels are displayed on a CRT after computer simulation. It is shown that with the present method the image can be reconstructed almost completely if a single sampling cell contains as many as 5 x 5 resolution cells.
