Self-diplexing omnidirectional antenna
Abstract
The paper reports on numerical analysis and experimental verification of the characteristics of a self-diplexing antenna for mobile transmission and reception. The proposed antenna employs an array of monopoles such that the input-output terminals are electrically independent. Wideband characteristics are easily determined in the monopoles. The antenna radiation has vertical polarization and is omnidirectional in the horizontal plane when fed from the input-output terminals. The diplexing and radiation characteristics are analyzed, and the performance of a prototype antenna designed on the basis of the analysis is presented. The radiation characteristics are found to be almost identical to those of a quarter-wave monopole.
