Synthesis of digital filters with low coefficient sensitivities
Abstract
A method for synthesizing lumped-coefficient digital filters with low coefficient sensitivity is presented, with the filter structure described by state equations whose coefficients are expressed by a directed graph. The permutation, reducibility, and realizability of filter structure are described in terms of matrices defined in the graph. The synthesis procedure is to generate a realizable filter structure and to minimize the coefficient sensitivity. As an example, a third-order filter is synthesized using the Powell method, with a reducible parallel form and a new irreducible form obtained as a result.
