Telecommunications equipment for Meteosat mission
Abstract
Consideration is given to the Meteosat system which consists of radiometric imaging of the earth, the collection of meteorological and environmental data, and the dissemination of meteorological data. The ground station infrastructure has user and central stations for telecommunications and control, data processing, receiving in the 1700 MHz band, and data collection platforms. Each data collection platform consists of subassemblies for (1) containing sensors and handling data, and (2) containing telecommunications equipment for data transmission. Messages are relayed by Meteosat to the data acquisition, tracking, and telecommunications station from which they are retransmitted to users. Prototypes of the system have been designed and tested, and a model has been selected for mass production.
