Dynamics of spherical vapor bubbles in a superheated liquid
Abstract
The paper examines the growth and ascent of spherical bubbles in a superheated liquid in the case of laminar axisymmetric flow about the bubbles for Reynolds numbers less than 5, a Prandtl numbers of the order of magnitude of unity, and Jacobi numbers less than 2Pr/k. It is assumed that the contribution of free convection is much less than that of forced convection caused by bubble motion, and that the rate of bubble growth is significantly less than the rate of its ascent. Velocity and temperature distributions are determined.
