Problems of illumination of grating when switching the image of the sun.
Abstract
The paper discusses several problems in connection with illuminating the grating of the spectrograph of a solar observatory. The scanning system has two mirrors arranged so that an arbitrary parallel displacement of the beams can be accomplished. The use of an additional lens for removing certain illumination errors is described. Also, it was found that replacing one of the plane mirrors of the two-mirror system by a spherical mirror alleviates the problem of shortened effective focal distance.
