Numerical investigation of photoabsorptive convection in a horizontal tube. I - Steady convection modes in the radiation field of a CW laser
Abstract
In the present paper, the rate of steady photoabsorptive convection in liquids, gases, and plasmas is studied as a function of the intensity of a horizontal laser beam. The analysis is carried out on the basis of numerical integration of the Navier-Stokes equations in the Boussinesq approximation. The convection patterns of a gas (Pr = 1) in a horizontal tube of square cross section are plotted and discussed.
