Investigation of the hydrodynamic conditions of jet heat transfer
Abstract
Even the most realistic of earlier models of an impinging subsonic jet do not take into consideration that spiral vortices may form at the point of impingement. The formation of such vortices has been demonstrated experimentally. In the present paper, an impinging-jet model is formulated which consists of a region of potential flow, spiral vortices at the point of impingement, a laminar sublayer (at the wall), a vortex filament, another laminar sublayer, a region of external viscous mixing, and a region of reverse flow. The model proposed is capable of interpreting the changes in the local heat transfer coefficients at the wall and also the dependence of heat transfer intensity on grid-induced flow turbulence.
