Estimation of the signaltonoise ratio in high information and constant factor delta modulation systems
Abstract
A statistical average step size is defined and used to estimate the signaltonoise ratio (SNR) for instantaneously adaptive delta modulators. The fixed step size is substituted into the formulas for the noise generated in linear delta modulation. This enables the SNR as a function of input signal power to be calculated for a certain class of instantaneously adaptive delta modulators.
