Estimation of the signal-to-noise ratio in high information and constant factor delta modulation systems
Abstract
A statistical average step size is defined and used to estimate the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for instantaneously adaptive delta modulators. The fixed step size is substituted into the formulas for the noise generated in linear delta modulation. This enables the SNR as a function of input signal power to be calculated for a certain class of instantaneously adaptive delta modulators.
