Improved cavity-stabilised oscillator circuit for single-mode operation
Abstract
The Kurokawa circuit that is often applied to cavity-stabilized IMPATT-diode oscillators for achieving single-mode operation at millimeter-wave frequencies is described. It is shown that this circuit can be improved by mismatching the dc bias port. Some design objectives are outlined which lead to an improvement in either the loaded Q-factor or the output power.
