A third star in the Hercules X-ray system?
Abstract
It is suggested that a third, light star orbiting the Her X-1/HZ Her system in an eccentric orbit with a period of 35 days is responsible for the 35-day cycle and may also account for the long-term HZ Her variations. Suggestions for some specific orbits and for further measurements to test this model are made.
