The distance to low-latitude negative-velocity clouds in the galactic anticenter.
Abstract
A complex of low-latitude negative-velocity clouds in the anticenter, which has been interpreted as a distant spiral arm and as tidal debris from a companion hydrogen galaxy, is shown to be local (not more than 2 kpc). The distance is based on an association between two hydrogen jets in this complex and the supernova remnants IC 443 and the Origem Loop. The implication of the relationship between the jets and the remnants is discussed.
