Radio observations of CH towards various galactic objects.
Abstract
Results are presented for observations of the 3.3-GHz radio lines of ground-state interstellar CH toward several small nebulae believed to be sites of recent or continuing star formation. Sources with positive detections include V1057 Cyg, S140, CRL 490, IC 2162, S269, NGC 1999, the Mon R2 association, and NGC 2183. It is shown that the observed CH emission is apparently of the weak maser type and probably arises in extended dust clouds with embedded dense condensations and nebulosities, that the CH lines are somewhat broader than generally observed in dust clouds, and that the satellite lines are evidently more inverted than the main line. The CH radial velocities are found to agree well with other radio line data.
