Submillimetre lunar emission.
Abstract
A map of lunar thermal emission obtained through the 350-micron atmospheric window is presented. A brief description of the photometer and data collection is given. Previous observational work concerning lunar roughness is discussed. Several empirical expressions are fitted to measurements made from the contour map, the expressions providing the best fit involving a term dependent on earth's zenith angle at the point under observation. A theoretical map is also compared with the observational data and found to disagree markedly due to the absence of any roughness considerations.
