Discharge of a superconducting energy storage system - A mathematical approach
Abstract
An electrical circuit equivalent to a superconducting energy storage system is considered. The real system includes superconducting and normal conducting elements. The store and the switch are superconducting; the voltage limiting resistance, an auxiliary or main capacitance are normal conducting elements. The inductance to be powered may be normal or superconducting. This paper deals especially with topics during the transition of the switch from the superconducting to the normal conducting state. For a switch resistance rising linearly with time an analytical solution is given and discussed.
