Optical image processing using computed filters displayed on a liquid-crystal electro-optical interface
Abstract
The paper describes a minicomputer-controlled setup for the hybrid real-time processing of images. The system employs a collimated laser source, an electrically modifiable filter, and a liquid-crystal electro-optical display. This coherent-optical, double-diffraction technique is applied to the reconstruction of binary holograms, which are displayed on a 128 x 128 dot liquid-crystal interface.
