Research and development of optical instruments for earth observation from operational spacecraft
Abstract
The paper describes a number of imaging and non-imaging optical instruments developed for observation of the earth from operational satellites. The instruments considered are the Scanning Radiometer (used in the NOAA 1-4 satellites), the Very High Resolution Radiometer (used in the NOAA 2-4 satellites), the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (used in Tiros-N), and the Visible, Infrared Spin Scan Radiometer (used in SMS/GOES 1-2).
