Simple correlation effects in surface scatter
Abstract
This report contains some simple results concerning the correlation time or distance of scattered received signals when the source is a single-frequency tone. Results are given for: the correlation distance between two receivers in a spatial array; the correlation distance in a situation where the source and receiver move together relative to a stationary rough surface, and correlation time at a receiver after several scattering bounces. In all cases it is found that the correlation times or distances are simple functions of the surface correlation time and the Rayleigh parameter.
