The 'Spektrostratoskop' - A balloon telescope for obtaining spectral photographs of the sun
Abstract
The considered instrument was developed as a balloon-borne spectrograph for observations of the granules on the sun. The history of the Spektroskop is briefly examined and a description is given of the design of the instrument for a flight test in 1975. Attention is given to details concerning the optical system, thermal problems and the approaches for solving them, the methods of instrument position control, and general design considerations.
