Wall pressure fluctuations in a bubbly flow
Abstract
A general review of the influence of gas bubbles on the pressure fluctuations in a liquid flow is presented, and an account is given of some experiments on the effects of air injection on the pressure fluctuations beneath a turbulent boundary layer in a quiet-running water tunnel of rectangular cross section. It was found that the effects are considerable near to and downstream of the point at which air is injected, but no evidence was found of radiated sound. Further work is proposed.
