Voice channel objective evaluation using linear predictive coding
Abstract
A feasibility study was done on the use of linear predictive coding (LPC) techniques for deriving an objective measure of intelligibility over voice communication channels. Background material is given and several potentially useful measures are identified. The limitations of the present study are detailed and methods of overcoming these limitations in future work are outlined. In spite of these limitations, the study strongly supports the suitability of LPC techniques for the objective measurement of intelligibility.
