Mathematical model of a flat eddy current probe
Abstract
A mathematical model designed to aid computation of the impedance of an eddy current probe to be used in testing flat products is described. The main hypotheses entertained in the model revolve about the symmetry of revolution of the system, the sinusoidal current flowing through the coil, and the homogeneous linear isotropic ferromagnetic conducting medium. Possible neglect of local variations in the properties of the conducting medium is acknowledged. Variations in distance and variations in the characteristics of the plate are examined, and practical applications of the model are outlined.
