Evaluation of thermal imaging devices
Abstract
The thermal imaging devices discussed here are used to convert thermal infrared into visual imagery. This paper considers various criteria for evaluating the performance of such devices, including relevance, simplicity of measurement, modularity and device independence. So-called evaluation quantities - efficiency of IR conversion to electrical or visual outputs, geometrical fidelity, and noise properties - for specifying the overall performance of a thermal imager system are considered.
