Electro-optics/laser international '76 UK; Proceedings of the Conference, Brighton, England, March 9-11, 1976
Abstract
The papers in this volume deal with some recent advances in electrooptics, covering such areas as laser developments and applications, optical instrument evaluation, optical waveguides and fiber optics, applications of lasers to holography and interferometry, electrooptical properties of materials and techniques based on them, visible and IR technology, applications of lasers to material processing and inspection, low-light-level techniques, and optical information processing. Specific topics include optical noise in GaAs LEDs, a high-stability TEA CO2 laser system, an optical method for measuring and evaluating stray light in spectrophotometers, application of polarized-light techniques to alignment problems, an optical-fiber data-collection highway, the production of phosphosilicate fibers, the use of ADP as a TIR intercavity laser switch, a multichannel acoustooptic light modulator incorporating TeO2 crystals, and the electrooptical properties of KNbO3. Other papers discuss laser and electric-field Kerr effects in liquids and liquid crystals, far-IR absorption in thin-film pyroelectric detectors, frequency-shift laser techniques for measuring water and wind velocities, time-resolved laser microanalysis, solid-state image sensors in electrooptical systems, a comparison of first- and second-generation image intensifiers, and strain evaluation by electrooptical processing of specimen-grating photographs.
