DME-basic HAWK missile system analysis
Abstract
The Basic HAWK missile, an obsolete surface-to-air missile in the U.S. Army inventory, is utilized to demonstrate the feasibility of Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) for guided missiles. This report presents the design of the guidance and navigation systems for a surface-to-surface application of the Basic HAWK missile using DME. Models of the Basic HAWK missile, the guidance law and the navigation filter are developed for stability analyses. The system performance characteristics obtained via simulation are also presented.
